Peter Robinson is Deputy Head of Department in the Computer Laboratory and a Fellow of Gonville and Caius College. His research interests are in human-computer interaction, ubiquitous computing and electronic computer-aided design.
The Mathematical Laboratory was founded in 1937 and changed its name to the Computer Laboratory in 1970. Initially, the Laboratory was to ''provide a computing service for general use, and to be a centre for the development of computational techniques in the University.'' It now has about 35 academics, 25 support staff, 35 affiliated research staff and 155 post graduate students.
