Mary Jacobus runs the Centre for Research into the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities and is a Professor in the Department of English and a Fellow of Churchill College. Her research interests extend over British and continental psychoanalysis, Romanticism and feminist criticism and theory.

CRASSH was established in 2001 to promote interdisciplinary research across the arts, social sciences and humanities. To this end it organises a broad range of activities including conferences, international fellowships and visiting lectureships across subjects as diverse as bioethics and music, evolution and religion. Many of the events are open to the public.
