Anne Taylor has been at the University Library since 1997. The Map Room has over one million maps, the earliest of which are more like topographical drawings. The globe in the background was made in 1697.

 

There are over 100 college, departmental and specialist libraries at the University. The University Library is one of six copyright libraries in the United Kingdom. The present library building opened in 1934 and has been extended on a number of occasions. There are an estimated 105 miles (170km) of shelves holding some 7-8 million books and periodicals.
