Anita Hagi has worked at Magdalene as a cleaner or ''bedder'' since 2001.
The crest over the door is Harvard University's and the stairwell is known as the Dunster stairwell after Henry Dunster, who was at Magdalene before he became the first President of Harvard.
Magdalene College can trace its roots back to Benedictine monks in 1428 who established a hostel for student-monks ''north of the river''. The College has had some notable alumni including the diarist Samuel Pepys, Irish nationalist Charles Parnell, mountaineer George Mallory, novelist C.S. Lewis and renowned abolitionist Peter Peckard who was Master of Magdalene between 1781 and 1797.
